Hasegawa's
1/72 YF-19 "Demonstrator" ~ In-box preview
Not a lot can be said about this one.
As you can see from the pictures, Hasegawa
just took
the
original YF-19 kit and added some fancy decals to it to make it a
"limited edition."

According to the
Macross Mecha Manual,
this is the very first operational prototype of the YF-19, and was used
as a demonstrator variable fighter and as such its hull was painted in
prominent blue and white colors.
Scale: 1/72
Manufacturer: Hasegawa
What you get: 131 styrene parts, instructions, decal sheet
Price: ¥2,800 (about $29.72) plus overseas
shipping, available from HLJ.com
Molding Quality: Hasegawa-excellent. 'Nuff said
Detail: same as the original YF-19 kit, nice surface details with
fine panel lines
Accuracy: with the exception of the markings, the plane looks
dead-on to me
Pros: it's a Hasegawa kit and it's Macross. What else does it
need?
Cons: repop of previous release, only difference is a bit more
expensive and new decal sheet, available (so far) from overseas
hobby stores
Final comments: A repop of the original YF-19. The decals are
nice, with the stripes being metallic gold in color, and the kit itself
falls together easily. Recommended, if you want to build another YF-19
with different, fancier markings.
