Bandai's 1/144 GN Arms Type-D ~ In-box preview
The year is 2307 A.D., and Earth's fossil
fuels have been depleted. Humanity has obtained a new source of energy
in the form of a large-scale solar power generation system, based on
three huge orbital elevators. However, the benefits of this system are
available only to a handful of major powers and their allies: the Union,
led by the United States of America; the Human Reform League, led by
China, Russia, and India; and the AEU, led by Europe.
These superpower blocs continue to play a grand zero-sum game for the
sake of their own prestige and prosperity. Thus, even in the 24th
Century, humanity has yet to come together as one.
In this world of never-ending conflict, a private armed organization
appears, dedicated to the elimination of war through armed force. Its
name is Celestial Being, and it is in possession of "Gundam" mobile
suits. With these Gundams, it begins armed intervention into all acts of
war.
Box Art

The GN Arms is a mobile armor/weapons
platform created for Celestial Being's Gundams, specifically the Dynames
(type D) and the Exia (type E). It is unknown if the other Celestial
Being Gundams could make use of them.
They are powered by a Gundam's GN Drive, relying on it's GN particles to
power its weapons and propulsion. They can act as backup combat support
for the Gundams (Fighter Mode) or transform to dock with the mobile suit
as a mobile armor (GN Armor Mode).
The GN Arms Type-D compliments the Gundam Dynames for mobile armor
combat, and provides a major bost in both speed and firepower. It sports
a double-barreled GN Beam Rifle and a missile silo, as well as a pair of
GN Cannons (like the Type-E) on top.

This big box comes pack to the gills with
parts! It includes sharply detailed snap-fit plastic kits of GN
Arms Type-D and Gundam Dynames, all molded in color, as well as
stickers, detailed instructions and a display base.
Like in the show, this model can switch to
GN Armor mode to allow Gundam Dynames to dock with it for a major boost
in both speed and firepower. The weapons included with GN Armor mode are
two large GN Cannons, a large openable missile container, and a foldable
GN Twin Rifle.
The Gundam Dynames kit comes with a pair of
GN Beam Pistols and holsters. An in-scale Lockon Stratos pilot figure
wielding his aim assist device is also included, which allows you to
recreate a memorable and poignant scene from episode 23 of the show.
Scale: 1/144
Manufacturer: Bandai
What you get: approx. 323 styrene parts, polycaps sprue, instructions,
stickers sheet
Price: ¥6,000 (about $63.68) plus overseas
shipping, available from HLJ.com
Molding Quality: typical of Bandai models, no flash with crisp
detail and excellent parts fit
Detail: High Grade detail, not as much detail as a Master Grade
but enough for a good build of the subject
Accuracy: looks dead-on to the animated version, including that
it is transformable
Pros: excellent parts fit & detail, somewhat unique model
subject
Cons: price, scale of model, only available (so far) from overseas
hobby stores
Final comments: Though I normally prefer 1/100 scale mecha,
all in all this is not a bad kit for a High Grade model. The subject,
detail and size more or less justifies the price tag.

for all fans of the series.
